How our posts are made
Plainly: most posts on our blog are drafted by an AI writing system, from our own records. Here is what that means, what is checked, and how to tell us when something is wrong.
Who writes the posts
Most posts on the blog are drafted by an AI writing system working from The Racing Bot’s own results archive. Where a post quotes our own runs, wins, prices or scores, they come from that archive, the same one behind the results and stats pages. The system is told not to invent horses, races or statistics.
Posts are published under the name The Racing Bot rather than a person’s, because no single person writes them. We will not put a name on a post that person did not write.
News posts
News posts are written from two outside facts only: the headline and summary published in BBC Sport’s horse racing feed, which the post credits and links. The writing system is told not to add any other outside fact. Anything else in a news post comes from our own records. We do not speculate on causes, and we never write a betting angle on a horse’s death or injury.
What is checked before a post goes live
Every draft is checked automatically before it publishes. A post that promises profit or certainty is blocked, along with other wording we do not allow, and a blocked draft does not go out.
Posts written by the daily system are not read by a person before they go live. That is why the checks above exist, and why we ask you to tell us when something is wrong.
A few pages were written for the site and approved by its owner word for word before they went live, such as the race guide on the 2000 Guineas page.
Corrections
If you spot an error, email info@theracingbot.com. We fix it, and if the error changed the meaning of a post we say so at the foot of that post.
