The 23 signals behind every rating

Fifteen are scored on every horse in every UK and Irish race, every day. Eight more are yours to switch on: on Pro they join the same maths and score every runner alongside the rest. Stronger evidence earns more points, and the points add into one score:

The scale runs to the mid-500s for an exceptional profile; across a season the average runner scores around 270. The highest-rated horse in each race becomes the bot’s ★ pick, and a “Best in race” count shows how many signals a runner leads outright.

Each one counts on its own: horse form, trainer form and jockey form are separate signals, and so are the course, going and combination records. On Pro you can re-weight any of them for your own model in the simulator.

Why transparency beats a black box

Open any runner in the dashboard and the score breaks down line by line: +85 for official rating, +50 for course record, and so on, with a marker on every signal the horse leads. Ratings you can check are ratings you can learn from.

Tested against 12,000+ real picks

The system’s record is public: 12,711 picks rated over the last 12 months, and at the top of the card 26% winners and 50% placed from 6,893 runs in the last 6 months (12 months: 25% won and 50% placed from 12,711 runs). Higher scores have won more often: picks scoring 400+ won 29% and placed 51% of 1,535 runs over the last 12 months, and 450+ won 34% and placed 54% of 541. Every claim on this page is checkable inside the app, race by race, and you can test your own rules over the whole record in the simulator.

Where the scores fall short

The score weighs what is measurable. It cannot see a horse’s work at home, a jockey booking made for a reason the data does not record, or a going change the feed has not picked up yet. Signals overlap, so a horse in form at a course it likes can collect points twice for one story. Small samples swing: two winners from three runners at a course reads as a 67% strike rate and means very little. And most top-rated picks still lose: 75% of them did not win over the last 12 months. That is why every result stays on the record, and why the simulator lets you test whether a change you believe in would actually have helped.
