What a betting bot actually is
An automated betting bot is software that places bets on a betting exchange - almost always Betfair - according to rules written in advance. The bot doesn't have opinions. It watches the markets, checks each opportunity against the rules it was given (odds range, stake, selection criteria, timing), and submits the instruction when the rules say so. The intelligence lives in the rules; the bot supplies discipline and speed.
That discipline is the honest selling point. Humans chase losses, skip races after a bad beat, and double stakes when 'due a winner'. A bot executes the plan exactly as written at 2:15 on a wet Tuesday, which is when plans usually fall apart.
The line that matters: tool, not service
There is a hard line in this space. Software you run on your own Betfair account, executing rules you set, is a tool - like a spreadsheet that presses the button for you. A company choosing bets for you, holding your money, or charging you to bet on your behalf is a betting service, which in the UK needs operator-level licensing.
